Welcome to Border Preschool.

Border Preschool is based in the rural village of Llanymynech on the English - Welsh border.  Our setting offers high quality provision for preschool children as well as after-school for older children.

Border Preschool is a registered charity and we have been providing learning and education in the community for over 30 years. Our setting is fully inclusive and offers support for children with extra needs.

We have excellent facilities and a large outdoor play area and garden.  There are endless opportunities for imaginative play, building friendships, singing, stories and getting messy.

"Border is a very unique childcare setting with good old fashioned values, you should be very proud of all you do to prepare our little ones for school!"

Our setting
  • Lots of play options

Inside we have areas for dressing up, getting creative or just having some quiet time.

  • Outdoor play area

We have a large play area outside with opportunities to get sandy, wet or just puffed out!  We are able to cover the area when it rains so children can still play outside.

  • Our garden

We grow a variety of vegetables and use the garden to learn more about wildlife.  Last term we built a hedgehog hotel.

  • Mud Kitchen

Mud kitchens offer children a range of activities throughout the year. They can use all sorts of materials to mix with the mud including, gravel, sand, water, leaves and twigs. It enables children to make use of natural materials and become more aware of different colours and textures in our environment. As well as sensory skills, children can learn through role play, develop communication skills and begin to apply numeracy through counting and making up new recipes. We have had our mud kitchen for some time and staff are experienced in making sure the children get the most from it. We have recently purchased some new splash aprons and a children's picnic bench to serve up their culinary treats.

  • New boat

This is our new 10 foot boat for our children to play in and create imaginative adventures. It was donated from Whitemere sailing club and was dug in by two Dads who kindly volunteered to help us out.

  • Garden patch

This is our garden patch where the children have planted tomatoes, beans, radish and sunflowers. The children love to plant the seeds and watering our plants and vegetables.

  • NEW Car park

The village hall has a new car park around the back and this has created 17 new parking spaces.
